Best Books to Read on Libby While Rocking Your Baby

As moms we spend a lot of time rocking our babies to sleep.  I don’t know about you but I find those middle-of-the-night, hour+ long, rocking sessions to be the most difficult to get up for and STAY up during!  I found myself having to scroll through Facebook on my phone just to keep myself awake!  That was until I discovered e-books, audiobooks and Libby.  Now I am actually excited when the baby wakes in the middle of the night because I get to see what happens next in the book I am reading!  So the books that I read have to be page turners!  So far, this is my list of the 35 BEST books to read on Libby while rocking your baby to sleep!

Why e-books and audiobooks?

I have always been an old school, physical book reader.  That was, until COVID.  The libraries were closed and I was getting tired of spending a ton of money buying so many books!  That was when I was forced to delve into the world of e-books and audiobooks.  Then I fell in love with them!

I fell in love with e-books because:

  1. You only have to hold your phone/tablet with one hand and still be able to turn pages.
  2. You never lose your place (my toddler likes to remove my bookmarks and play with them).
  3. You can read in the dark which is perfect for those middle of the night feedings while you are rocking your baby.

Audiobooks are great because:

  1. If you are still too tired to read you can just listen to the story.
  2. While the kids are listening to Peppa Pig in the back seat of the car you can be listening to your book (I count this as “adult” time).
  3. Great way to multi-task and be able to “read” a book while on a walk, doing chores, working out, etc…

What is Libby?

Libby is a free app that allows you to borrow e-books and audiobooks.  You can download them straight to your iOS or Android device.  All you need is a library card!  The app works just like the library.

  1. Search for books by title, author, subject, language, availability, etc…
  2. Place holds if book(s) are not yet available (wait time will be shown).
  3. Borrow books with your library card (if you do not yet have a library card compatible with Libby, most libraries will allow you to apply for one online).
  4. Return when finished or renew your books to keep reading!
